CETANE NUMBER IMPROVERS

Reasons for Using Cetane Number Improvers

Internal combustion engines working on the compressed ignition principle require good timing for the fuel to auto-ignite. A parameter called cetane number measures the fuel ignition quality. For a given engine design, a minimum cetane number is required.

Meeting the minimum cetane number requirement ensures no ignition delay, lower noise even in the indirect injection arrangement, more complete combustion and less soot and unburned hydrocarbon emissions.

Today’s modern high-pressure diesel engines require a higher cetane number. Refineries with insufficient means to produce fuel with a high cetane number would find the use of cetane number improver convenient and profitable.

Cestoil Chemical offers the most cost-effective packages of Cetane Number Improver based on 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate and peroxide chemistry in the marketplace.

Dosage

At a treat rate of 0.1%, NorthShoreTM CA1801 can boost cetane number up to 8~10 points. The normal treat rate varies between 100 ppm to 2000 ppm according to the required performance and base fuel properties.

Handling and Storage

NorthShoreTM CA1801 can be added at refinery either concentrated or as a stock solution using a pump or injection system. Alternatively, NorthShoreTM CA1801 can be packaged with multifunctional additives and added at the terminal.

NorthShoreTM CA1801 is compatible with other commonly used fuel additives and with engine and fuel system materials. Observe the usual precautions for handling concentrated chemicals and blending additives into fuel. Delivery in 200 liter one-way drums, plastic IBC tanks or Bulk.
